Husker kickers interrupt Ohio State’s script Ohio
Nebraska didn’t make any friends in its first visit to Ohio Stadium since 1956. At halftime, two letters into the Ohio State marching bands’ famed script Ohio, the Huskers kickers went out to start warming up for the second half. The boos start at about the one minute mark. The tweets were much worse.
Intentional or just an unfortunate miscommunication? The answer probably breaks pretty cleanly along party lines.

It was my first trip to the Horseshoe and I was really enjoying the halftime show. I was particularly excited to see such an iconic event in college football- Script Ohio is a big thing… so I was disappointed to see our kickers out there during the script Ohio. People around me were telling me they'd never seen anyone do that before and found it extremely disrespectful. I had to agree with them, especially since they'd just done a very nice tribute to TO on the video board. How would we like it if the opposing team was doing drills on the field right in front of the tunnel before the team exits it at Memorial Stadium? This is their tradition and our kickers should have waited a couple of minutes to warm up. And for those OSU fans who were hating on Bo for such an affront, I would like to think that he wasn't aware of the incident otherwise he would have had Maher wait to warm up.

You mean the thing on the scoreboard that no OSU fans even cheered for?

As for them "interrupting" the tunnel walk… nobody would even notice.

Bill Kerr Pretty sure one of the most successful coaches in college history shouldnt be honored…. I guess Ohio state fans such as yourselves don't have the respect for things like that. Ignorance such as yourself is a reason why your fans are not considered the greatest fans of college football. Pretty sure the halftime show sucked anyways

you have to have respect and integrity to cheer for an opposing schools legend. Way to represent your fanbase.

Wow. I expected them to have run over guy dotting the I. I didn't realize the entire field was off limits. Didn't Ohio State run through the Michigan State cheerleaders last week?

It's ok. You don't want friends in Columbus anyway.

Their house, their rules. And that's kind of a big deal to them.
October 8, 2012 at 3:11 pm
I actually think we tried to run over the guy… We missed on that one too

Their other rules: allowing smoking and drinking in the crowd.

Nice! Got a smile out of me …

Although he probably handled it inappropriately, NCAA rules dictate that the team can take the field for warm ups at teh 6 minute mark on the halftime clock. I was in the stands and checked the clock, it was right at 6 minutes. Nebraska has actually be penalized 15 yards on the opening kick-off in the past for going too long with the halftime show.

I agree that it was a stupid mistake for our kickers to run onto the field like that and they should have waited but you have to remember that these are still young kids and they don't know everybody's tradition and they make dumb mistakes. I don't know what the situation was but I don't believe it was malicious on anybody's part. Script Ohio is one of the great traditions in college football and seeing as Bo is an alum I don't think he ordered them to do it. He's too busy chewing out his own guys (and the refs). As for all those outraged buckeye fans out there, get a little perspective. It seems like they have short memories- I recall that their team ran through the Michigan State cheerleading squad and allegedly doctored game film just a week ago. And let's have a special shout out to the buckeye fans in the shoe on Saturday night who led a profanity laden chant against our players during halftime. I don't have a problem with them booing the kickers but the profanity was uncalled for especially when there are children present. Way to stay classy buckeye nation! As for Bill Kerr first off nice of you to advertise some of your personal info on your post! Seeing how you give yourself two job titles at "Bill Kerr Graphic Design" I'm pretty sure you're the only employee. Way to represent your business pal! Now all the nutcases (and there are some in both camps) know where to find you. Your comments seem to be representative of buckeye nation as a whole. We would certainly notice if your team interrupted our tunnel walk but unlike your fans we wouldn't hurl profanity at them and wouldn't immediately form conspiracy theories about it. On a final note I'm sure "urb" ran up the score deliberately when he could have taken a knee as some sort of retaliation for the kickers incident. It was a meaningless score at that point. I can see it if there was still some time left but at 18 seconds to go come on! Look at it this way- we wouldn't have done it to you. Bo takes a knee all the time in that situation. And it's asinine to keep your starters in at the point. What if your star quarterback suffers a season ending injury at that point? You'd be singing a different tune the next day about your head coach. To all the Husker fans out there let's just remember to be the same courteous fans we've always been the next time Ohio.
State comes to Lincoln.

I really don't see the big deal. Our kickers stayed out of the way. I'm more offended at our team's general performance, than the kicker's "interrupting" the script Ohio. Much ado about nothing.

The kickers did not get in the way of the and…what was the big deal? I thought maybe they had run through the formation the way everyone was booing. What a joke.

I always wondered why they can't spell Ohio State, cause they aren't the Bobcats. sorta like stealing isn't it?
