Webster signs with Nebraska

The key to coach Tim Miles’ 2013 recruiting class is officially a Husker.

Tai Webster, a 6-3 guard from Auckland, New Zealand, signed his letter of intent on Tuesday just a day after watching the Huskers beat USC.

“He is an excellent player who will thrive in our style of play and has high-level international playing experience which will help him acclimate to basketball in the U.S.,” Miles said.

“There is no doubt he loved his visit to Nebraska and is excited about the team, our campus, our facilities and, without question, our fans. We look forward to Tai joining us next season and helping us build Nebraska basketball into a consistent winner.”

Webster, 17, was rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN and was the youngest player to every play on the New Zealand National Team. He averaged 13.5 points for the Tall Blacks in the 2012 FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament.
