Recruit Profile: LB Courtney Love

LB Courtney Love | Youngstown, Ohio – Cardinal Mooney | 6-1, 215

RANKINGS (stars, position rank): By all accounts, Love is one of the top five or six prospects in this class and is one-third of what looks like another talented group of linebackers.

Rivals: 3-star, 26 | Scout: 3-star, 52 | 247Sports: 4-star, 19

WHO ELSE WAS INTERESTED: Urban Meyer, most notably, but Nebraska played its Cardinal Mooney card here to lure in Love. Oklahoma, USC, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and West Virginia all offered scholarships in addition to the Buckeyes. That’s as impressive an offer list as any prospect in the 2013 class.

HOW HE FITS: According to the recruiting sites, Love is actually the lowest ranked of Nebraska’s three linebacker commits but  that’s more a reflection of how well the Huskers have recruited that position this year than it is on Love’s talent. All three linebacker spots are wide open in 2013 and Love has the benefit of enrolling early to take part in spring ball.

HOW HE LOOKS: The thing that jumps out about Love is his ability to get off blocks. He’s a potentially dynamic middle linebacker.
