Practice Report – Day 12
The Huskers were back at Wednesday morning for the first of two practices on the day. Here are some quick hits from Bo Pelini’s post practice interview:
–Freshman offensive lineman Corey Whitaker is out for the season with a knee injury. Pelini said Whitaker had shown some promise in fall camp.
“He’s going to be a very good player,” Pelini said. “He’ll recover fully.”
Junior Brandon Chapek has been added to the 105-man roster to replace Whitaker.
–Defensive tackle Thad Randle was held out of Wednesday’s practice as a precautionary measure. Pelini said Randle “tweaked” the knee he injured in the spring so the staff elected to give him a rest. The injury isn’t expected to be a long term issue.
–Linebacker Sean Fisher will be the first to tell you he still wasn’t 100 percent recovered from his own knee injury last year, but that doesn’t appear to be an issue this season. “He’s the healthiest he’s been since (the injury),” Pelini said. “He’s going to have a really good year for us.”
–Offensive tackle Tyler Moore is still on scholarship at Nebraska. His spot on the 105-man roster, however, has been filled by freshman defensive back Alonzo Moore.
Nebraska practices under the lights again Wednesday and Thursday night before resuming two-a-days on Friday.
