Nebraska Baseball Headed to Oklahoma City for the NCAA Tournament

May 27, 2019

Nebraska baseball is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time under head coach Darin Erstad. The Huskers earned a trip to the Oklahoma City Regional hosted by Oklahoma State. The Cowboys were the No. 9 national seed.

Nebraska (31-22) will face Connecticut (36-23) at 12 p.m. CT on Friday. Oklahoma State (36-18), Big 12 tournament champions, faces Ivy League champion Harvard (27-14) in the second game on Friday night.

The Huskers last faced the Cowboys in the 2016 Clemson Regional, losing 6-0.

This is Nebraska's fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament in the past six seasons. The Huskers are looking to advance beyond the Regional round for the first time since the 2005. Nebraska is 1-6 in Tournament games under Erstad.

The Huskers finished two games back of regular-season champion Indiana in the Big Ten standings, earning the 5-seed in last week's conference tournament in Omaha. Nebraska advanced to championship game where it fell 3-1 to 7-seed Ohio State. Short stop Spencer Schwellenbach and third baseman Angelo Altavilla were named to the All-Tournament team.
