The 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward originally from Senegal spent last season at Keystone Athletic Academy in Erie, Pennsylvania. He chose Nebraska over offers from Seton Hall, Arizona State, Ole Miss and others. A bouncy big man with a 7-foot-3 wingspan, Diop is a strong rebounder with offensive upside.
A product of NBA Academy Africa, Diop competed at the NBA Academy Games in early July with Nebraska among the schools in attendance. Nebraska assistant Ernie Zeigler has ties to the NBA Academy Africa program. The Huskers offered Diop, who played played with Wildcat Select on the Adidas 3SSB circuit this spring and summer, on July 11, and he pulled the trigger less than two week later.
Diop’s addition leaves Nebraska with one open scholarship and adds important depth to the frontcourt, joining Rienk Mast, Blaise Keita, Juwan Gary and Josiah Allick.
