Nebraska Guard Dachon Burke Jr. Enters Transfer Portal

March 21, 2020

The offseason attrition continued on Saturday for Nebrasketball as Dachon Burke Jr. has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to Verbal Commits.

The 6-foot-4 guard was sent home from Nebraska’s regular season finale at Minnesota and suspended indefinitely. In a message on Twitter, Burke shared that he missed curfew during the trip and apologized, and he said he would be focusing on his school work and graduating while the team traveled to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Tournament.

Burke is a redshirt junior, and graduating would allow him to play immediately at his new school.

Burke spent his first two seasons at Robert Morris before transferring to Nebraska to play for Tim Miles. He sat out the 2018-19 season and was one of two players on the team who returned in Fred Hoiberg’s first season in Lincoln.

Burke averaged 12.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.5 turnovers whole shooting 40.1% from the field, 30.4% from 3 and 56.6% from the free-throw line. He played in 29 games with 27 starts, averaging 28 minutes per game.

Burke is the second Husker guard to enter the transfer portal this week after Jervay Green did so on Tuesday. Point guard Cam Mack also announced he was going to declare for the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. Burke’s departure drops Nebraska to 12 scholarships committed for the 2020-21 season, including Mack.

Nebraska has a pair of transfer guards committed in Western Illinois grad transfer point guard Kobe Webster and Wisconsin off-guard Kobe King in addition to a junior college commit in the backcourt in Teddy Allen from Western Nebraska Community College.
