Nebraska announced on Saturday morning that sophomore point guard Cam Mack and junior shooting guard Dachon Burke Jr. have both been suspended indefinitely ahead of Nebraska’s regular season finale at Minnesota on Sunday.
Nebraska did not provide a reason for the suspension in the release. Fred Hoiberg suspended Mack for Thursday’s loss at Michigan for “a violation of team rules.” Mack was involved in a hit-and-run on Wednesday at 11:55 a.m. and did not make to trip to Ann Arbor.
Mack is third on the team in scoring at 12.0 points per game and is one of the top assist men in the Big Ten at 6.4 assists per game. He’s started 25 games this season, and after each of the last two times he came off the bench Hoiberg said it was because Mack was late to team functions.
Dachon Burke has played in 29 games this season with 27 starts. He’s missed one game while dealing with an illness. The redshirt junior is averaging 12.2 points, second on the team. He’s scored in double figures 19 times with four 20-point games.
Nebraska (7-23, 2-17 Big Ten) will have seven available players for the game on Sunday. Tipoff is set for noon CT on BTN.
