CHICAGO – The Big Ten released its preseason all-conference team to kick off Big Ten Media Day in Chicago on Thursday morning and Nebraska senior wing James Palmer Jr. was one of the 10 players selected.
Palmer was named to the All-Big Ten First Team by the conference coaches and was tabbed as a second-team selection by the media as a junior. The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during his first season as a Husker after transferring from Miami and he led the Huskers to a fourth-place finish in the Big Ten with a 13-5 conference record. Palmer scored recorded eight 20-plus-point games with a high of 34 and scored in double figures in all but two games.
Palmer is just the second Husker to be named to a preseason all-conference team since 2007.
Palmer was joined on the team by preseason Big Ten Player of the Year Carsen Edwards from Purdue, Indiana freshman guard Romeo Langford and senior forward Juwan Morgan, Michigan wing Charles Matthews, Wisconsin forward Ethan Happ, Michigan State point guard Cassius Winston and forward Nick Ward, Maryland point guard Anthony Cowan Jr. and Minnesota forward Jordan Murphy. Edwards and Happ were unanimous selections.
