The start of the 2018-19 basketball season is almost here.
On Wednesday, the Huskers took to hardwood inside Pinnacle Bank Arena for an open practice attended by 3,700 fans.
Nebraska ran through some individual and team drills before scrimmaging over four four-minute quarters.
Hail Varsity was on hand to give you a glimpse into how the night played out.
The Huskers’ lone exhibition game is set for next Thursday, Nov. 1, against Wayne State at 7 p.m. After that, the season begins. Nebraska will begin play unranked despite a highly-anticipated year and plenty of expectations.
Guard James Palmer Jr. was named to the conference's preseason All-Big Ten team as well as a player to watch for the Jerry West Award. As a team, the Huskers were picked to finish fourth in the conference according to a survey on media covering the league.

Derek is a newbie on the Hail Varsity staff covering Husker athletics. In college, he was best known as ‘that guy from Twitter.’ He has covered a Sugar Bowl, a tennis national championship and almost everything in between (except an NCAA men’s basketball tournament game… *tears*). In his spare time, he can be found arguing with literally anyone about sports.
