2021 WR Jaylin Noel Impressed With New Nebraska OC Matt Lubick

January 26, 2020

Nebraska hosted an important Junior Day on Saturday with many top targets for the 2021 recruiting class. There were close to 30 prospects on campus in total for the big event. Half of those already hold scholarships from the Huskers. One of the prospects back on campus with an offer was 3-star (HV Rating: 83.3) wide receiver Jaylin Noel‍.

Noel had a good return trip to Lincoln. He picked his offer from the Huskers during his first visit over the weekend of the Wisconsin game. One of the highlights for the speedy wideout from Park Hill (Missouri) High School was getting a chance to meet with new offensive coordinator Matt Lubick.

“He [Lubick] was a really good guy and we connected on a lot of simple concepts about football that I appreciated,” Noel told Hail Varsity.

This trip to Lincoln was more personal and informative for Noel and his family. They got an academic presentation, a tour of the facilities and a sneak peek at the new weight room. Construction hasn't begun yet on the new building but it has become a big selling point. There was also a meeting with Coach Scott Frost.

“I got to meet with him one-on-one,” Noel said. “And his philosophies toward the program and system he is developing seemed really good. Also, I understood everything he said and was able to ask questions and he was able to answer them.”

Noel and his family will be busy with visits soon. They will head to Ames next weekend to check out Iowa State. He will also visit Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota soon, as well as a return to Lincoln in the spring. Noel (5-11, 170) is a good regional recruit out of Kansas City. It feels like he will either end up at Nebraska or the Huskers will be playing against him.

Noel is leaning toward taking his official visits this summer but will take them into the season if he isn’t ready to decide on a future home. The family feel at a school is important for Noel. That’s part of what stood out most at Nebraska because the latest trip to Lincoln on Saturday helped strengthen his bond with the staff.

“The connection the coaches made with everyone,” Noel said. “And them being completely honest and only selling the truth to the players giving them a complete view of what it could be like if a player was to attend Nebraska.”
