The Huskers had a unique opportunity last weekend. 24K, a 7-on-7 organization based out of Florida, flew up to Iowa last weekend to compete in a tournament. The group boasts nearly two dozen recruits. They checked out Nebraska, Iowa State and Minnesota.

Palmetto Ridge three-star safety Kensley Faustin is a prospect that got to see Nebraska. He’s one of the better safety prospects in Florida for the 2024 cycle.

“I wanted to check out one of my old teammate Kamonte Grimes,” Faustin said. “I like Coach Fisher and what he has to offer for me. He really knew what he talking about when he was talking to me.”
Faustin said that he still talks to Grimes pretty often. The current Husker tells the prospect how the weather is in Nebraska and what it’s like being a college athlete.
Faustin picked up his ninth scholarship offer when the Huskers offered him over the weekend. Nebraska joined Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Iowa State and others on his offer list. He’s also hearing from LSU, Alabama, and Penn State. Faustin has been a prospect on the rise due to a strong 7-on-7 season.
During his visit to Nebraska, the indoor facilities stood out to the Florida native. He enjoyed getting a look at the new facility being built too. It caught his eye that everything is connected so you wouldn’t even have to go outside in the cold to get to practice. Spending time with defensive backs coach Travis Fisher was also a highlight for him. The pair have bonded quickly.
“The relationship with Coach Fisher is growing,” Faustin said. “He is from Florida like me so he knows my mindset and what I’m trying to achieve.”
The Huskers have recruited Florida hard since coach Scott Frost arrived from Central Florida. There are still several Florida natives on the roster. The Huskers look to keep the pipeline to the Sunshine State open each recruiting cycle. Faustin thinks that is smart since Florida is one of the states that produces the most athletes. The defender has an idea of what he is looking for in a school as his profile continues to rise.
“I’m looking for the school that’s gonna give me a chance to compete for a starting position as soon I step foot on campus,” Faustin said. “Also, the relationship with the coaches that’s gonna be a big factor in what I’m looking for in a school. The relationships I built, that’s important to me.”
