Inside linebacker Rodney Groce has decommitted from Nebraska. The 3-star prospect joined the Huskers’ 2020 recruiting class just over two weeks ago on Friday, Oct. 4. He announced his decommitment on Wednesday.
Groce took an official visit to Lincoln for the matchup with Ohio State. While that game didn’t go as planned, it didn’t deter the defender, who stands at 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, from joining the class a few days following. However, Groce changed his mind on the commitment only a couple of weeks after that initial decision.
“But after talking it over with my family and praying about it, I have decided to decommit from the University of Nebraska,” he wrote on Twitter.
Linebacker is the biggest need for Nebraska this recruiting cycle. Nebraska still has one outside linebacker for the 2020 class, but will likely look to add another and look to replace Groce.
With that said, Nebraska has a “next man up” mentality which also applies to recruiting.
Recruiting analyst Greg Smith will have more on the decommitment and what it means for Nebraska to come. Stick with Hail Varsity for more as we have it.
