3-star RB Sevion Morrison Finds a Family Vibe on Nebraska Official Visit

June 23, 2019

This weekend, Nebraska hosted seven official visitors for a big weekend that including the Big Red BBQ and the second Friday Night Lights camp. One of those players on hand for an official visit was 3-star (HV Rating: 85.7) running back Sevion Morrison‍ out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I caught up with Morrison, who tallied 2,761 rushing yards and 38 total touchdowns during his junior season to get his thoughts on the vibe with the players, the coaching staff and his current leaders on the recruiting trail.

Here is the full Q&A with Morrison:

What were your overall thoughts on the official visit?

“It was honestly amazing, man. It was way different than what I thought. It was real nice.”

What did you get to do while in Lincoln?

“Really, not too much but I ate a lot. I got to see the field. I got to dress out and put the uniforms on. Actually, I got to do a lot. It was fun though.”

Who was your player host?

“Katerian Legrone. Those are my boys. They are cool. They were really cool like family, they gave me the family vibe.”

What was it like being around Ryan Held, your area recruiter and potential position coach?

“That’s not my first rodeo with Coach Held. So, it really was just regular. He’s almost like my best friend, he’s a real cool person.”

Did you get a chance to meet with Scott Frost?

“I did get a chance with him, too. That’s my boy. I don’t really look at him like Coach. We’ve built a relationship where it’s more like a friendship, you know?”

How do you see your fit within the Nebraska offense and how the coaches would use you?

“Man, I think it’s perfect honestly. The way Coach Frost uses his running backs, they do everything. They go from the slot, to empty running out the backfield, to the pitch on the option. They do everything. You won’t be the running back just running up the hole, it’s an all-around back.”

What are your goals for yourself and your team for this season?

“Well as a team overall, we want to be better than what we were last year and win the state title. For myself, honestly, I’m going for 3,000 yards for my senior season but as far as touchdowns I want 75. That’s a high goal for myself but I feel like I can do it.

After your other visits, where would you say Nebraska ranks currently?

“I don’t have an exact place where they rank but I’d say they are high on the charts.”

Do you plan to decide on a school before your senior season?

“Yes, a little bit.”

What are the things you are most looking for in a school?

“That family vibe. That’s it really. That family vibe. That’s what I like. If I feel like the coaches are truthful, I like that too. The first thing I look for though is that family-type atmosphere. If they have that, I just go on down my checklist.”
