Over the weekend, Nebraska hosted its first official visitor of the month when 4-star (HV Rating: 91.1) linebacker Cody Simon came to town. The playmaking defender attends St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey, and is among the most coveted defenders on Nebraska’s board this cycle.

The Garden State native had already been to Lincoln for an unofficial visit for a Junior Day earlier in the year. I was able to reach Simon for comment after his trip. He told me that it was a good trip and that his favorite part of the official visit was seeing all the facilities again.
Simon does plan to make a decision before his senior season, so it’s important that he has a clear idea of what he is looking for in a school.
“I’m looking for a school that is equally competitive in the classroom and on the field,” Simon said. “Also, a team that has a plan for me down the line.”
The 4-star, who currently stands at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, has been dominant on the camp circuit this summer. He’s racked up numerous awards including the linebacker MVP award at a Rivals 3 Stripe Camp, which also earned him an invite to their 5-star challenge. Simon fits the mold of a safety turned outside linebacker that outside linebackers coach Jovan Dewitt likes.
Following this trip to Lincoln, Simon will take an official visit to Ohio State this month and an unofficial visit to Penn State.
