Nebraska’s 2018 recruiting class took a hit Thursday evening as Corona, California, wide receiver Manuel Allen tweeted that he is now committed to Louisville.

Allen, a 4-star prospect with a 93.0 Hail Varsity rating, committed to the Huskers right before the 2017 spring game. He also attended the Friday Night Lights camp on June 23, landing on former Husker Jay Moore’s list of “7 Prospects Who Looked the Part.”

“Allen looked really good on Friday. He’s very much in the
mold of the long athletes Nebraska is after right now, which I like,” Moore wrote in June. “Allen is that outside receiver you can count on to win more than his
share of 50-50 balls, and the Huskers have a nice blend of body types at
receiver with promising young players in the slot. Guys like Allen and
Joshua Moore sort of offer the other part of the equation.”

Now Nebraska might have to go looking for another prospect to fill the “long athlete” role at wide receiver, where the class now includes just two commits — Moore and Cameron Brown.

Tommy Bush (6-5, 187), a 4-star wide receiver from Texas, announced Thursday that he is visiting Lincoln for the Wisconsin game on Oct. 7.
