This weekend, Nebraska will host its second Junior Day for the 2020 recruiting class. There are several intriguing targets making their way to Lincoln for the event and the Huskers may end up having even more prospects attend than the event back in February. Nebraska has had the opportunity to host some prospects for unofficial visits during spring practices but there’s nothing quite like a large-scale Junior Day.
There will be prospects on hand from the 2020 and 2021 recruiting classes. Once again, it’s impressive that the Huskers will have a large number of states represented at the event. By my count there are prospects from Arizona, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Texas, California and Alabama making their way to Lincoln.
The 2020 group is headlined by 4-star linebacker Quandarrius Robinson from Birmingham, Alabama. The defender is the type of hybrid outside linebacker that the Huskers are looking for, standing at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds. Other 2020 prospects to know are defensive end Johnny Wilson from Kansas City, offensive lineman Paula Vaipulu from Texas and linebacker Mister Williams from California. All hold Husker offers.
The Huskers will also host a pair of junior college prospects from Highland Community College with scholarship offers from Nebraska. Cornerback Brian George and defensive tackle Jahkeem Green are scheduled to attend.
There will also be a trio of 2021 prospects in attendance that already hold offers as well. Riley Mahlman, an offensive tackle from Lakeville, Minnesota, will attend. The 6-foot-8, 250-pounder hails from the same town as Bryce Benhart. Jakailin Johnson, a cornerback from St. Louis, Missouri, and Teddy Prochazka, an offensive tackle from Ellkhorn South, will also be in Lincoln.
I would be surprised if we didn’t see some new offers go out this weekend once Nebraska gets the chance to get a look at some kids in person.
Stay tuned to Hail Varsity for reaction throughout the weekend from the visitors.
