Over the weekend, Nebraska hosted a large number of targets, commits and signees for the annual Red-White Spring Game. There were over ten prospects on campus in the class of 2020 that held offers from the Huskers prior to the weekend. One of them was 4-star (HV Rating: 90.0) wide receiver Logan Loya. The pass-catcher from Orange, California, was in Lincoln with his dad to check out the action.
I caught up with him to get his thoughts on the atmosphere, the offense and his official visit plans.
Here is the full Q&A:
HV: What were your overall thoughts on your trip to Nebraska?
LL: I had a great time. I was very impressed with everything there. I had no idea what to expect other than I knew there’d be a lot of fans. The fans didn’t disappoint at all. It was awesome. The stands were packed. It was really cool. I really enjoyed it.
HV: The atmosphere was something you were looking forward to pre-visit, did it meet your expectations?
LL: It probably exceeded it. I just wanted to see it. I didn’t really know what to expect. It was a really cool feeling being there.
HV: What did you think of the offense in general?
LL: The offense looks fun to be a receiver in. They pass the ball everywhere and use the slot guy. It looks fun.
HV: As a receiver, were you aware of Adrian Martinez before the visit?
Yes. I watched him a couple times last year. It seems like he just keeps on progressing and getting better. It’s really something to watch.
HV: Did you get a chance to meet with offensive coordinator Troy Walters and Coach Frost?
LL: Yes. It was super cool. I had never talked to Coach Frost before so that was super cool. You know, he’s just as cool as everyone says he is. He’s a neat guy and great coach. Coach Walters, I talk to him every once in a while on the phone. He was at my school before, too. I was cool hanging out with them and getting to know them more.
HV: Before coming out, did you have previous knowledge of the Huskers?
LL: I would say probably not. The only person I’ve watched before is Ameer Abdullah because I like watching his highlights.
HV: What did your dad think about the trip?
LL: He loved it. He watched Nebraska growing up. He was a fan and loved being there.
HV: After being in Lincoln, where does Nebraska fit in your group of potential schools?
LL: I don’t know. They are showing interest so I’m showing them interest. I really enjoyed it but we’ll see where they end up. I don’t really have a list right now, I haven’t thought about it.
HV: When do you plan to take your official visits?
LL: I have no clue. It seems like it’ll be during the season but I really have no clue right now. I haven’t set it up.
HV: What would you say are the top things you are looking for in a future school?
LL: A place that I’m going to get better. The coaches that are going to help give me an opportunity to hopefully go to the NFL. Also, a place that will help me after the four years of college. The education.
