Bellevue West Quarterback Daniel Kaelin Flips Commitment to Nebraska

May 20, 2023

Nebraska’s top in-state quarterback won’t get away a second year in a row. Bellevue West quarterback Daniel Kaelin announced his commitment to Nebraska on Saturday, giving the Huskers a second in-state commitment of the 2024 recruiting class.

Kaelin’s decision is the latest domino to fall following No. 1 overall recruit Dylan Raiola’s commitment to Georgia. Raiola and Kaelin are the only two quarterbacks Matt Rhule and his staff offered in the 2024 class. Nebraska chose to pursue Raiola and Kaelin looked elsewhere. The Bellevue West quarterback committed to Missouri in March. Raiola committed to Georgia on Monday, May 15. Kaelin de-committed from Missouri on Friday, clearing way for his move to Lincoln.

Kaelin is the No. 4 in-state recruit in the composite during the 2024 recruiting cycle and a 3-star prospect. He’s a pro-style quarterback who threw for 3,186 yards and 38 touchdowns with just seven interceptions last season. He’s also high school teammates with receivers Dae’vonn Hall and Isaiah McMorris, both of whom are highly coveted by Nebraska in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Should Kaelin sign with Nebraska he would be the first in-state quarterback to do so since Heinrich Haarberg.

He joins Elkhorn South lineman Ashton Murphy as the only two members of Nebraska’s 2024 recruiting class so far. Kaelin is now the No. 7 recruit in Nebraska’s 2024 class. The Huskers stood No. 32 in the recruiting rankings ahead of Kaelin’s commitment.
