Nebraska is on spring break right now. As far as I know, there have been no visitors on campus this week. Things have not gotten fast and furious just yet with recruiting, but that doesn’t mean work isn’t happening behind the scenes. This is an important time for Nebraska to line up visitors for both the second half of spring ball and for the sold out spring game.
Let’s get to the Recon.

The Recon:
>> The Friday practice before spring break was an eventful day for Nebraska. Not only did the Huskers host three of their top prospects, the coaching staff from Iowa Western Community College was in for the whole day. Coach Scott Strohmeier and his staff took in practice and all of the meetings throughout the day. IWCC has produced multiple Division I prospects over the years with none of them signing with Nebraska. Building a better relationship with the powerhouse junior college located close by could pay off as early as this year with defensive lineman Perrion Winfrey (who is on Nebraska’s radar).
>> There aren’t a lot of confirmed visitors for the spring game in April just yet but the names will start rolling in soon. One prospect to keep an eye on is Darius Snow, a 4-star safety from Texas. The defender told me this week that he wants to get to Lincoln this spring and if he does, the spring game could be a possibility.
>> Nebraska offered 2021 linebacker Raejson Davis from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, this week. The big-time program produces top talent on a yearly basis. Davis already holds double-digit scholarship offers including Auburn, FSU and LSU. Defensive line coach Tony Tuioti is his lead recruiter and Davis was familiar with him from his time at Cal.
“Coach Tuioti is a great coach and I plan to further develop our relationship,” Davis said. “It was surprising a little [to get the offer] because I hadn’t really talked to Nebraska before but I knew Coach Tuoti from Cal. It’s a big offer though and I’m extremely happy to receive it.”
Davis would be a great prospect for the Huskers to build a relationship with early. Tuioti will get Nebraska’s foot in the door.
>> After 3-star defensive end Blaise Gunnerson took his trip to Nebraska last week, he told me that he would not be doing more interviews until he committed. That itself isn’t much news but I am told that the Huskers feel very good about the impression they made on the Iowa defender. At this point, I would say they are in a good position to land him but I’m not quite ready to put a prediction in for him yet.
>> One player I do have a prediction for to be ‘N’ is 4-star defensive tackle Nash Hutmacher. The South Dakota native will take his official visit to Lincoln April 5-6. He also has an official visit scheduled to Wisconsin in June and may take a trip out to Oregon. I still really like the Huskers’ position for one of their top defenders in this cycle.
