The sports world is on hold right now but the Huskers keep chugging along doing their best to recruit. Nebraska is staying connected to its top targets and has done a good job communicating with them. The team has also continued to evaluate future classes. Several new 2022 offers have gone out this week as the team is able to do deeper film evaluations with no practices to run.

The Recon:
>> Oklahoma outside linebacker Collin Oliver put the Huskers in his top group of eight schools. He’s an athletic and rangy prospect who would fit nicely into defensive coordinator Erik Chinander’s defense. He’s been to Lincoln once for a game and has stayed in frequent contact with the staff. After releasing his top group, he promptly picked up offers from Oregon and Georgia. The secret is out on Oliver and we will see if the new interest causes a shake up on his list.
>> The recruitment of 5-star linebacker Terrence Lewis has a long way to go and it has the potential to be a wild ride. However, as of now I would like this as a Texas A&M versus Nebraska race. The Aggies are likely in front right now but I would take that as fluid. Lewis was able to take an extensive visit to College Station and does have a good relationship with their staff but do not underestimate the pull of the Huskers. Travis Fisher has done a nice job with Lewis. He sees the movement of Florida prospects wanting to play for Nebraska, he wants to leave Florida for college and there is a path to playing time in Lincoln. The Huskers need to get him on campus but the team is well positioned here.
>> The complete overhaul of the specialist room at Nebraska is still underway. Nebraska picked up a walk on specialist commitment when Ryan Novosel announced he’d be joining the team on Thursday. The Illinois kicker told me that why he picked Nebraska.
“It’s big time football and I love the unbelievable opportunity to be able to grow with such an amazing program,” Novosel said.
When special teams is as bad as it was for the Huskers in the 2019 season, big changes were a lock. The hope now is that with fresh eyes on the situation after adding Jonathan Rutledge and bringing in new blood will steady the units out.
>> This week, TJ Bollers, Nebraska’s No. 1 defensive target, released his top six schools. I still think there is a chance that Bollers expands or contracts the list. In my mind, this a three-team race with a wildcard. Wisconsin is the current leader. The Badgers have everything Bollers is looking for with the engineering school, position development history and a great college town. Nebraska and Iowa State are chasing the Badgers. Both schools have strong relationships with Bollers. The Cyclones were his first offer. Nebraska is the school he’s visited the most and his dad was college roommates with Chinander. Cal is the wildcard. They blew the visit with him out of the park a while back and have the No. 3 rated engineering school in the country. Wisconsin had the momentum in January but something is keeping Bollers from shutting things down. The other schools have an opportunity as long as he remains uncommitted.
