Nebraska’s summer camp commitment haul grew by one on Thursday. And this one came from their own backyard.
Omaha North safety Donovan Jones announced his commitment to Nebraska on Thursday to become the latest member of the Huskers’ 2024 recruiting class. Jones is now the 15th commitment in the class and seventh since summer camps began.

Jones jumped out to coaches during the Friday Night Lights Camp on June 16. Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl, who also helped guide the camp, offered Jones afterwards. Nebraska coaches told Jones they’d be in touch. He announced an offer from Nebraska the next day. He took an official visit to Lincoln earlier this week, which cemented where he wanted to play his college football.
The latest addition to the 2024 class is a 3-star recruit going into his senior season. In 21 games the last two seasons, Jones has 19 solo tackles and 26 assisted. Last season alone he deflected seven passes and made two interceptions. He’s currently listed at 6-foot, 180 pounds.
The Omaha North soon-to-be senior is the third in-state commitment of the 2024 class so far, following in footsteps of Elkhorn South lineman Ashton Murphy and Bellevue West quarterback Daniel Kaelin.
