Over the weekend Nebraska hosted a number of visitors including a pair of official visitors. However, there was an important in-state target, Chris Hickman in attendance for the game. The rangy tight end (6-6, 195) is one of the top juniors in the state and his Omaha Burke team is off to an undefeated start this year.
It was a great day for Hickman and his family as Chris was offered a scholarship by Nebraska before the game. Hickman says he and his family enjoyed the trip and he really liked the atmosphere. It made the day even better when Hickman received the “surprising” offer.

Hickman tells me that Coach Mike Riley personally offered him. As for which position he will play, Hickman tells me that the coaching staff says it all depends on what his body grows into. When I asked him if he cares at all which position he plays, he responded quickly. “No, I’m just trying to play the sport I love for as long as I can.” He really could grow into a true in-line tight end or if he doesn’t fill out as much, he can be a hybrid tight end that has become more and more popular in football these days.
Hickman doesn’t have any leaders at this point and says thats he’s currently interested in schools that are showing interest in him. He currently holds offers from Iowa State and Mississippi among others. He does currently plan to visit UCLA this coming weekend when the Bruins take on Colorado.
