On Wednesday, 4-star (HV Rating: 94.1) offensive lineman Turner Corcoran signed his letter of intent to become a Husker. He is my No. 2 Early Signing Day Greg’s Guy.

Corcoran was a massive verbal commitment back in April when he pledged to the Huskers the weekend of the spring game. The Free State High School standout will be a cornerstone prospect for this recruiting class and for offensive line coach Greg Austin’s group for years to come.
The lineman’s story of how he committed to the Huskers while he was with the staff at Watering Hole in Lincoln is one my favorites from the cycle. Back in April he told me what made Nebraska the home for him.
“This sounds cheesy but it was everything,” he said. “It’s all about the people. The program and players with how inviting and welcoming they are. I talked to [Matt] Farniok yesterday before the game. He was like, “Dude, are you gonna commit?” I told him yeah and it was really fun to see his reaction. He was great about it. He’s a great dude. I really like him, he’s awesome. They were really cool about it. It’s really about the people and how welcoming the whole staff is. It really did feel like another home to me.”
Corcoran’s top seven was Nebraska, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and the home-state schools Kansas and Kansas State. He never publicly announced trimming down the list, but all indications are that Nebraska, Oklahoma and Ohio State were the final three. Going toe-to-toe with those schools for a top prospect is never easy but credit the staff for doing a great job with his recruitment.
The Kansas native is a great prospect. He enjoys finishing blocks, plays with a mean streak and moves well. He will represent the Huskers in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio next month before coming to Lincoln as an early enrollee.

Greg is the Recruiting Analyst for Hail Varsity and has covered Husker athletics since 2013. He has always had a passion for sports while growing up in the Chicago area. As he got older and had to hang up his cleats and sneakers, he realized his passion for sports went beyond just watching and attending games. He has covered many events from the Rose Bowl to championship boxing matches. If he’s not talking sports, he’s hovering over his grill. He is married to an amazing woman, Kim, and they have a dog that barks when Greg yells at the TV during games.
