Greene committed to Nebraska shortly after concluding his official visit during the final weekend before early signing day. The Wakulla High (Florida) star is a true sideline to sideline linebacker for inside linebackers coach Barrett Ruud to coach. Adding talent to the linebacker group was a top priority for Coach Scott Frost and defensive coordinator Erik Chinander this cycle.
The Florida defender had one of the more surprising commitments of the cycle. Once it became known that Greene would take an official visit to Nebraska, you felt better about the Huskers’ chances. The Huskers put together a strong visit weekend and came away with the big commitment.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, he ran a verified 4.49 40-yard dash at Nike’s The Opening last February. He was also named the linebacker MVP of that event. A big share of the credit was earned by Travis Fisher on this recruitment. Greene was committed to Florida State for two years prior to Willie Taggart being fired by the school. Fisher remained in contact throughout that time keeping the lines of communication open.
Greene was very productive during his senior season. He tallied 147 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups and an interception. He also a blocked field goal for his team that went 13-1 this season.
He will play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio next month.
