On Wednesday, 4-star (HV Rating: 93.1) linebacker Nick Henrich signed his letter of intent to become a Husker. He is my No. 4 Early Signing Day Greg’s Guy.

I’ll actually never forget where I was when Nick Henrich committed to Nebraska. That’s because I was out at sea on an Alaskan cruise when he announced he was joining the class. For the last two years, I’ve spent a lot of time in Omaha watching the Omaha Burke Bulldogs play football. It’s hard to have watched No. 42 roam on defense and not be impressed.
His anticipation at the linebacker spot is special. His combination of size and athleticism is, too. He shoots gaps, he wraps up, he doesn’t get caught out of position, he has the speed to chase down plays from the backside, he doesn’t miss tackles, he looks unblockable at times and he plays the game the right way.
Henrich will join an inside linebacker group next season where the major players will include Mohamed Barry and Will Honas. In addition, Jackson Hannah and Garrett Snodgrass will join the room to help stock the cupboard for Barrett Ruud.
In eight games this season, Henrich tallied 96 tackles, 20 TFLs and 5 sacks. The Burke star doesn’t just have the chance to be a star at the college level on the field but there is no better player for him to hone his leadership skills under than Barry. Henrich will join the Huskers as an early enrollee in January.

Greg is the Recruiting Analyst for Hail Varsity and has covered Husker athletics since 2013. He has always had a passion for sports while growing up in the Chicago area. As he got older and had to hang up his cleats and sneakers, he realized his passion for sports went beyond just watching and attending games. He has covered many events from the Rose Bowl to championship boxing matches. If he’s not talking sports, he’s hovering over his grill. He is married to an amazing woman, Kim, and they have a dog that barks when Greg yells at the TV during games.
