On Wednesday, 4-star (HV Rating: 94.1) defensive back Henry Gray signed his letter of intent to become a Husker. He is my No. 5 early Signing Day Greg’s Guy.

Gray (6-1, 180) committed to Nebraska out of Central (Florida) High School back on Sept. 19. Since he’s been in the class so long I think he is sometimes lost in the shuffle of everything that has played out since then. In a lot of ways, Gray has been the most vocal of peer recruiters for Nebraska. He has been especially active on Twitter where he is constantly positive about the team and wanting to bring players in.

Florida, in particular, has been good to the Huskers this cycle. They’ve nabbed several commits from the state. After not signing any recruits from the state of Florida last cycle the Huskers are back at it in the Sunshine State. Gray played a role in that as a popular and talented recruit.
On the field, Gray will give Fisher another versatile defensive back for his room. The Huskers are stacking up defensive backs that can play some corner as well as safety. The good thing that comes with that is Gray is another addition that likes contact. He’s a physical player that will come down and help in run support.
Fisher clearly wants that type of physicality in his room as this staff navigates the Big Ten.
An excellent student in the classroom, Gray will enroll early at Nebraska in January. That extra time will be huge to help he try to see the field early as a freshman. Playing against top notch competition weekly during high school will help ease his transition as well.
