On Saturday, Nebraska hosted many targets for both the 2019 class and future classes. One prospect they hosted was 2020 defensive lineman Brock Griffin from Normal Community High School in Illinois. It was actually Griffin’s second visit this season to check out the Huskers after taking in the Minnesota game in person.
I caught up with Griffin to get his overall thoughts on the visit, the family atmosphere in Lincoln and more.
Here is the full Q&A with Griffin.
What did you think about the overall experience on Saturday?
“It was a good experience. I never really thought of Nebraska until they started talking to me more. It was second visit there. It was a pretty good visit each time.”
Going from not thinking about Nebraska to now visiting twice, what has you interested?
“The atmosphere and how involved they were with me more than other places I’ve been to for visits. The people there, the facilities, the crowd, I just like it a lot compared to Illinois or Iowa State that I’ve been to so far this year.”
Which coach have you had the most contact with?
“Sean Dillon, he’s the Director of Player Personnel. He honestly goes out of his way to make it a better visit for me and make sure I’m good with everything while I’m there. He’s a good guy. I just feel more at home at Nebraska with how they treat me.”
What creates that “home” feeling at Nebraska versus other schools?
“It feels like everyone there has your back more than other places. If you needed something in your family is not going to be there, the coaches could help you. If you need anything, they are there for you.”
What did you think of the defensive line’s performance Saturday?
“They improved a lot since the last game. They were kind of struggling a little bit against Minnesota when I was there but they’ve made improvements. It was a good game in the front seven.”
What are some things you are most looking for in a future school?
“I’m most looking for a home type of environment. A good coaching staff that treats you well. Plus, a good education especially.”
What other schools are after you right now?
“The University of Illinois, Iowa State and a lot of MAC schools like Bowling Green, Miami of Ohio and Ball State.”

Greg is the Recruiting Analyst for Hail Varsity and has covered Husker athletics since 2013. He has always had a passion for sports while growing up in the Chicago area. As he got older and had to hang up his cleats and sneakers, he realized his passion for sports went beyond just watching and attending games. He has covered many events from the Rose Bowl to championship boxing matches. If he’s not talking sports, he’s hovering over his grill. He is married to an amazing woman, Kim, and they have a dog that barks when Greg yells at the TV during games.
