Running back recruiting has certainly taken an upswing since running backs coach Ryan Held took over the position. He is one of the aces of the Nebraska coaching staff, which means fans are becoming confident he will continue stockpiling his room with talent.
One class of 2020 running back to keep an eye on is Florida 3-star Marvin Scott III from Spruce Creek High School.

As a junior, Scott racked up 1,220 yards and 17 touchdowns. I caught up with the running back to discuss what he is looking for in a school, his relationship with the Husker staff and more.
Here is the full Q&A:
How long have you been talking to Nebraska?
“I’ve been talking to them for a good few months. The communication has picked up recently.”
Which coach do you hear from the most?
“[Tight ends] Coach [Sean] Beckton and [running backs] Coach [Ryan] Held.”
How is the relationship with those guys, especially Held since he would be your position coach?
“I love the relationship that’s building. They are showing love. It’s a great relationship.”
What do you think about their offense and how you would fit in it?
“They tell me that Coach Scott Frost uses a lot of backs. He tries to use everyone. I think I would fit in great with their offense.”
Who are some running backs that you pattern your game after and like to watch?
“Sony Michel and Reggie Bush. I like to study those guys.”
How did things go for you at Nike’s The Opening in Orlando?
“It went great. I ran a good 40-yard dash time of 4.54 laser. I got a good Nike rating. It was good times out there. I wanted to show what I could do on a bigger stage.”
What other schools are you talking to at this point the most?
“Virginia Tech, UCF, Utah and West Virginia.”
Do you plan on making visits this summer or waiting until the fall?
“We thinking about going up north to some visits. Probably two or three visits. Of course, I’ll want to take some officials in the fall.”
What is your decision timeline for a college choice?
“Maybe before the senior season. We’ll see.”
What are some things you are most looking for in a school?
“I’m looking for an honest coaching staff, which is Coach Frost’s coaching staff. I’m looking for a great atmosphere. Also, good academics. Just a place to be with a place that I can call home.
