Former UCF QB, Wahoo Native Noah Vedral is Coming Home

January 09, 2018

There will be another homecoming in Nebraska this season.

Wahoo native Noah Vedral will be transferring from UCF to Nebraska after recently completing his true freshman season. He announced the move with this tweet on Monday afternoon.

It was reported earlier today by a UCF recruiting site that Vedral would be blocked from transferring to any school in the American Athletic Conference and Nebraska, but could walk-on at any school of his choosing. It’s safe to assume at this point that he is choosing to walk-on at Nebraska.

Vedral does have to sit out a season per NCAA transfer rules but played as a true freshman last season, so he does have the ability to use his redshirt for the 2018 season, and will be eligible to play during the 2019 season. During that redshirt year he will be a valuable member of the team since he’d be the only player that has run Frost’s system on the team.

Very quickly, Nebraska has added quality players to the quarterback room that is suddenly getting full. Nebraska signed 4-star Adrian Martinez, who enrolled early. He figures to get a legitimate shot to play as a true freshman. He will be in a quarterback battle with redshirt freshman Tristan Gebbia and redshirt sophomore Patrick O’Brien, with walk-on Andrew Bunch in the mix.

Nebraska has also been offering scholarships for the 2018 class to potential second quarterbacks so it remains to be seen if securing Vedral changes that thinking.

Vedral starred at Bishop Neumann High School where amassed 4,561 passing yards and 42 passing touchdowns along with 2,250 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns on the ground over his career. He appeared in eight games for the Knights in 2017, completing 22-of-29 passes for 276 yards and a touchdown while adding 77 yards rushing on 18 carries with two touchdowns as a backup to McKenzie Milton.
