Four-Star Cameron Lenhardt, Former Husker Commit, Signs With Nebraska After All

January 03, 2023

Cameron Lenhadt is back.

The senior at IMG Academy has already signed his letter of intent at Nebraska but didn’t announce his decision until the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s Under Armor All-America Game. He originally committed to Nebraska on August 25 but reopened his commitment on September 18 amid Nebraska’s coaching change.

The 4-star defensive lineman was heavily recruited by former defensive coordinator Erik Chinander and committed to Nebraska just ahead of the season opener. He stayed committed through the dismissal of Scott Frost but re-opened his commitment when Chinander was let go.

Lenhardt visited Nebraska in late June, which provided him an opportunity to meet with the Husker coaching staff and get a feel for the program. The new Nebraska coaching staff re-offered him a scholarship and brought him in for an official visit on December 10.

He was the second participant in the All-America Game to announce signing with Nebraska, along with Ethan Nation of Roswell, Georgia. Lenhardt’s announcement came during the game’s fourth quarter while Nation’s announcement came before kickoff.

The 6-foot-3 and 240-pound prospect’s final list of programs he was interested in included Michigan State, Maryland and Nebraska. He had offers from all over the country, though, drawing plenty of Power Five interest.

Lenhardt — originally from New York — transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, in 2021. He was primarily an edge rusher IMG, but also saw some snaps at linebacker. Per 247Sports, Lenhardt is the No. 33 edge recruit in the country. He is also considered a top-300 prospect. He is the fifth edge rusher signed to Nebraska’s recruiting class along with Princewill Umanmielen, Maverick Noonan, Dylan Rogers and Kai Wallin.

He is now the No. 23 known member of Nebraska’s 2023 class and the fourth 4-star signee. Nebraska was ranked No. 28 in the composite team recruiting rankings before the All-America Game.
