This week I finally got the opportunity to spend some down time with my family and friends, we had a bye week and I tried my best to take advantage of the free time I had. On a normal day, I would have school from 8:30 to 2:00 and then from 2:00 to 4:00, I would have practice then study hall so by the time I got home and settled for bed it was already 8:00 and I’d be exhausted. But this week I wanted to do things differently and make up for the hours that I missed and spend that with my family.
Now it’s back to the gridiron, my happy place and my playground. We play Palacious High this week, a team about 45 minutes south of us. Last year we put up 56 to their 7 and we’re looking for the same outcome this week, nothing less.
Before the season started I wrote down a few goals that I wanted to achieve for myself. They included to be the leading receiver in the state in touchdown receptions as well as interceptions on the defensive side and I’m close to achieving both. I was named the best punt returner in the country last week by MaxPreps and ESPN because I’ve returned five thus far, but as we all know I can’t let that get to my head.
I’m looking forward to housing the first kickoff or punt that is kicked my way as well as every ball thrown to me and I am more than confident that I will make that happen.
I am the first ever Under Armour All American from Yoakum, Texas, and the feeling is so surreal. Have you ever worked so hard for something and finally achieve what you’ve set out to do and felt like you’re still dreaming? Well yeah, that’s how I’m feeling right now. This wouldn’t be possible without God, my family, my coaches and my wonderful support system.
I want to personally thank them.
