Since the new year, 3-star offensive tackle (HV Rating 85.8) Jayme Simmons has been a busy prospect. All but one of his scholarship offers have come since the new year began. The recent transfer to Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, picked up an offer from Nebraska on Saturday.

When I caught up with Simmons on Sunday, he was just getting out of church. He is excited to get the offer for Nebraska despite not having much communication with them prior.
“That was my first time speaking with the coaches there. Coach [Erik] Chinander offered me and told me that they loved my film.”
Simmons told me that some of the schools that have offered that he has interest in right now are Tulane, Troy, South Alabama, Georgia Southern, Samford, Eastern Kentucky, and Texas State. He’s up to 11 total offers now.
The big (6-5, 255) and athletic lineman, who also plays basketball, was happy to pick up his first Big Ten offer.
“It was good and exciting, the start of something new.”
Simmons does plan on visiting Nebraska, possibly as early as this week during his spring break. Simmons is still working the visit details out with his family. He has a working knowledge of this staff from their time at UCF because he is originally from Florida. He does have a few things he is looking for in a potential school
“I’m looking for a place with playing time," Simmons said. "Also with good coaches, too. I’m all about coaches caring about you as a person and not just as a player.”
