Huskers Add a Linebacker to the 2019 Class

June 06, 2018

The Huskers just added another thumper on the second level of its future defense.

On Wednesday, Nebraska added its eighth commitment of the 2019 class when 3-star linebacker (HV Rating: 87.9) Jackson Hannah‍ from Montgomery Bell High School in Nashville, Tennessee, announced on Twitter that he was verbally committing.

Last season, the defender racked up a reported 52 tackles with nine tackles for loss and three sacks as an outside linebacker. This year for his senior season, Hannah will move to inside linebacker where he will play for Barrett Ruud at Nebraska. The move inside is something that Hannah told me after his unofficial visit to Nebraska that he welcomed. Before making the decision, Hannah told Hail Varsity that he was looking for some specific things in his future school.

“Well, the family aspect is huge for me. I don’t care as much about the facilities or swag. It’s really where I fit in the best, what defense can I help the most. I’m also really looking at the people involved in the program as well.”

Hannah chose Nebraska over scholarship offers from Arkansas, California, Alabama, LSU and Oregon among others. Coach Ruud deserves a hat tip for closing this recruitment because just a month ago it was thought that Cal and Arkansas had raced out to an early lead.
