Huskers Add Depth at Cornerback from the JUCO Ranks

June 05, 2018

The Big Red recruiting machine is continuing to roll. Even for last year's class.

On Tuesday, Nebraska picked up a commitment at a position of need. Cornerback Will Jackson‍ (6-3, 185), a 2018 prospect from Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona,  announced he was joining the Huskers Tuesday afternoon.

While the commitment was a surprise to many, it quickly became a good surprise when Hail Varsity reported that he would be immediately eligible this fall. Adding Jackson to the cornerback room fills a huge need as the Huskers were looking heavily into adding a graduate transfer at the position.

Mesa’s defensive coordinator Chenelle Jones didn’t want to speak too much about it until Jackson had a chance to, but did confirm that he has graduated. He did say that Jackson is a great young man who they think is special and has the chance to be great at the Division I level.

Jackson originally committed to Kentucky out of high school in February of 2015. We will have more on this developing story throughout the day.
