The Huskers hosted eight official visitors over the weekend. One of those visitors was longtime defensive line target Jalen Marshall. The Overland Park, Kansas, native made his way to Lincoln. He gave them the first visit after feeling consistent love from the program for over a year.
Such a wonderful experience! Amazing coaching staff. #ProudMamaMarshall https://t.co/HAwcY8EySK

Marshall felt coming into the visit that he had one of the best relationships with the Nebraska staff of any school that is recruiting him. The day lined up perfectly for Marshall. One of his brothers attended camp at Nebraska over the weekend. Another had a basketball tournament in Lincoln. Marshall expected to see something good when he arrived in Lincoln, but was blown away by what he saw.
“I expected it to be a good visit but it blew my expectations out of the water,” Marshall said. “When I was meeting all the coaches for the first time it just felt like I already knew them because I’ve been talking about this a long time. It just felt so normal, like it was nothing. It was just a good experience.”
While in Lincoln, Marshall hung out a lot with his player host Damion Daniels. Marshall was really impressed with Daniels and got along with him very well.
“He’s a great leader,” Marshall said. “You can just tell by the way he he carries himself. He told me all the stuff that I need to know about Coach Tuioti. Like what type of coach he is. It’s just different coming from a player than a coach. He told me all the stuff I need to know and how much of a great place Nebraska is.”
He also had a lot of meetings to learn even more about the program. Being a defensive lineman Marshall noted how much they ate through the weekend.
“They fed us a lot,” Marshall said. “Probably my favorite thing I ate was the brownies. They had some really good brownies at the cafeteria. They had pretty much everything and it was good but the brownies were so good. Oh, and I had a really good burger at Coach Frost’s house.”
The visit to Frost’s house was a nice touch according to Marshall. He enjoyed relaxing with the coaches. While at Frost’s house they had a barbeque and played games like cornhole in the backyard. Meeting the coaches in person after talking to them so much virtually went smoothly. Before leaving Lincoln, Marshall sat down with Tuioti for an hour to review defensive schemes and how the Huskers could use Marshall.
Now Marshall will head to Oklahoma State for a Wednesday-Friday official visit. He’ll also check out Indiana. He plans to commit early in his senior season or even before that. It all depends on when he has that feeling about where to go.
“I’m just looking for that environment,” Marshall said. “How genuine the coaches are and how they treat me. Also, how they would develop me. Nebraska had a good meeting about how they develop their players with Coach Duval and Dave Ellis their nutritionist. So that was really interesting to me and how they’ve developed me.”
