Nebraska had a good amount of very intriguing players on campus this weekend for the Ohio State game. It was not as large a weekend as the previous week for Wisconsin but there were several prospects that Nebraska would love to bring into the fold.
Let’s start with the marquee 2018 visitor, 4-star athlete Talanoa Hufanga. He was scheduled to travel back to Oregon today so I’m still trying to catch up with him. Hufanga has been a priority target for this staff for a long time dating back to its Oregon State days. Relationships will be huge in his recruitment and Nebraska could have the strongest ties of any staff recruiting him. His brother was a walk-on for Riley at Oregon State. Trent Bray is very close with his high school coach. Donte Williams and Scott Booker are his primary recruiters and Hufanga also has a good relationship with Tavita Thompson.
The relationships are clearly there and Nebraska will need every bit of it to overcome the trajectory of the program questions. Early playing time is also a plus for Nebraska at this point but I’ll fill you guys in on more after I talk to him.
If you have not watched his updated senior film, sit back and enjoy.

The other two big names on campus this weekend were 2019 4-star quarterback Max Duggan from Council Bluffs, Iowa, and 2019 4-star defensive end/outside linebacker Marcus Hicks from Wichita, Kansas. I raved about Duggan here after seeing him play and had an opportunity to catch up with him to discuss his visit. Duggan is a must-get 2019 recruit for many reasons. Nebraska will likely not take a quarterback in 2018 making the position a top priority in 2019. He is strongly considering Iowa and Huskers fans don’t want to face him for 4 years and, oh, by the way, he’s really good.
Hicks will also be a top priority for 2019. He’s a very good pass rusher and he’s in the much-talked-about 500-mile radius. Hicks would be a great fit in Bob Diaco’s 3-4 defense as either a defensive end or outside linebacker. He and his father seemed to really enjoy the visit to Nebraska.
Thank you for the hospitality Nebraska. Our visit was awesome. @harcus_micks @PIAthletes @Coach_Parrella @Coach_Riley @mikejschaefer pic.twitter.com/9A9ud8MUXL

Nebraska did pick up a commitment this weekend when Lincoln Southwest long-snapper Cameron Pieper accepted that offer. This story of a family’s dream coming true is one that you really enjoy telling.
Nebraska also extended another preferred walk-on opportunity to 2018 Norfolk DE Ryan Schommer. He has great size (6-5, 240) and is starting to get some looks from schools around the country.
Very blessed to receive an offer to play football for Nebraska as a preferred walk on. Thank you Coach Diaco. God is good! #ThrowTheBones pic.twitter.com/bmlrob96pj

If I had to pick a Husker commit that is under the radar at the moment, it would be 4-star wide receiver Cameron Brown. The St Louis Christian Brothers product has been having a great year and is really continued to improve during the last couple of years. Brown caught seven passes for 163 yards and four touchdowns. Check out this catch he made Friday night.
Cameron Brown's @luh_cam_ one-handed💎touchdown grab. By far the best play we've seen all season🔥 pic.twitter.com/sqyk0znulB

Greg is the Recruiting Analyst for Hail Varsity and has covered Husker athletics since 2013. He has always had a passion for sports while growing up in the Chicago area. As he got older and had to hang up his cleats and sneakers, he realized his passion for sports went beyond just watching and attending games. He has covered many events from the Rose Bowl to championship boxing matches. If he’s not talking sports, he’s hovering over his grill. He is married to an amazing woman, Kim, and they have a dog that barks when Greg yells at the TV during games.
