Huskers Hosting Early Week Offensive Line Official Visitor

June 21, 2021

The Huskers have an early week official visitor on campus that will be in town Monday through Wednesday.

The last official weekend just wrapped up yet the Huskers are already hosting another player. Hail Varsity has learned that Colorado offensive lineman Jake Maikkula (6-5, 265) is in Lincoln to see what the Huskers have to offer.

“I’m most looking forward to meeting the coaches in person and getting a better feel for the area,” Maikkula told Hail Varsity ahead of his trip.

It’s been a busy month of trips for the Colorado native. The lineman has already taken official visits this month to Cal and Virginia. He took an unofficial visit to Minnesota this month. He also plans to officially visit Colorado and Duke in June.

The Huskers have a good number of options to add to the offensive line this cycle. The team is young at the position so they have the benefit of being selective. There are likely just two spots available this class for offensive linemen. The class will be smaller because of scholarship limitations after 2020. The Huskers are waiting to see how things go with Maikkula this week. Then the team will make more decisions on offensive linemen.

Maikkula holds close to 30 scholarship offers from around the country.

We’ll have full coverage of Maikkula’s visit recap later this week at Hail Varsity.
