Huskers Make an Impression on LB Jackson Hannah

June 05, 2018

Over the weekend, Nebraska hosted a number of 2019 and 2020 prospects. One of them is an impact defender from the South. Three-star linebacker (HV Rating: 87.9) Jackson Hannah‍ from Montgomery Bell High School in Nashville, Tennessee, made the trip to Lincoln with his dad.

I caught up with Hannah to get his thoughts on the trip and where his recruitment stands. Overall, it was a great trip for the defender and his father.

“I really loved it, it really spoke to me,” Hannah said. “The coaches were great and the facilities were second to none. It was a great visit overall. I’m really looking forward to getting an official up there. Coach Frost and Coach Ruud are great people. I’m looking forward to building the relationship from here.”

Nebraska's pitch resonated with Hannah's father, too.

“My dad loved it," he said. "He grew up watching Nebraska be dominant and having them want me is pretty unbelievable for him, too.”

Hannah tells me that Coach Ruud is the number one guy they spent their time with, but they also got to sit down and talk to Frost for a while too.

So, what stood out to the Nashville native on his trip?

“The family atmosphere. The way they conduct themselves as a team after not being there for that long. Coach Frost’s vision is something that I might want to be a part of one day. It’s really unbelievable, he’s wanting to turn that program around to what it once was. That’s what I took away from the visit.”

Even though Hannah played outside linebacker last year for his high school, Ruud sees him as a true inside linebacker in Nebraska’s 3-4 defense. He is making the move to inside linebacker this season and is pretty comfortable with the idea of playing inside in college.

Hannah is trying to finalize his decision in the next week. What will be the deciding factors as he selects the college he will play his football at?

“Well, the family aspect is huge for me," he said. "I don’t care as much about the facilities or swag. It’s really where I fit in the best, what defense can I help the most? I’m also really looking at the people involved in the program as well.”

Hannah holds scholarship offers from Arkansas, California, Alabama, LSU and Oregon among others.
