In a day full of news that had nothing to do with on-field actions, Nebraska got some good news Thursday night.
One of the most highly recruited players in the country trimmed his list down to six and the Huskers made the cut. Four-star athlete and No. 2 Greg’s Guy Talanoa Hufanga has included Nebraska in his final six that includes Oregon, USC, UCLA, Utah and Michigan. Hufanga is regarded by most as one of the top athletes in the nation and projects as a safety in college. He revealed the news on 1080 The Fan in Portland.
Hufanga has already taken an official visit to Utah. He visited last weekend and appeared to have a good time.

You may be wondering why Hufanga released a top six when you can only take 5 official visits. The explanation is pretty simple there. Being from Corvalis, Oregon, he has visited Oregon multiple times and there isn’t much sense in him using an official visit there when he could utilize those visits to see places further away from home. The schools can pay for those official visits.
Nebraska is recruiting Hufanga very hard and even stopped by his high school game when the Huskers traveled to Eugene to play against Oregon.
With @HuskerFBNation looking on…@CVRaiderFB 5* recruit Talanoa Hufanga looked like an #opreps human cheat code en route to 51-0 win. pic.twitter.com/9sWZQcQf2J

Nebraska has strong ties to Hufanga’s family as his brother was a walk-on for Mike Riley when he was at Oregon State. This recruitment is wide open and while it will prove difficult to pull him away from Oregon, it would not surprise me to see Hufanga pull a shocker when he commits.

Greg is the Recruiting Analyst for Hail Varsity and has covered Husker athletics since 2013. He has always had a passion for sports while growing up in the Chicago area. As he got older and had to hang up his cleats and sneakers, he realized his passion for sports went beyond just watching and attending games. He has covered many events from the Rose Bowl to championship boxing matches. If he’s not talking sports, he’s hovering over his grill. He is married to an amazing woman, Kim, and they have a dog that barks when Greg yells at the TV during games.
