James Monds III Leaves Lincoln With Nebraska Leading His Recruitment

June 21, 2021

The Huskers hosted another group of official visitors this past weekend. One of the more anticipated visitors for fans was 3-star Florida defensive back James Monds III. The legacy recruit’s uncle played cornerback for the program in the 1970s. The trip was everything Monds expected and more.

β€œThe trip definitely exceeded my expectations,” Monds said. “It was way better than I thought. It definitely changed my mindset.”

Monds received the full red carpet treatment from the Huskers during his visit. He got to visit campus, the dorms and football facilities. Monds went over film with the staff too. It was great for Monds to meet with his potential position coach Travis Fisher. The Florida native said that he could see himself playing for Fisher in college.

He also mentioned that he had a lot of great meals while he was in Lincoln. The defender noted that his favorite thing was the ribs or the broccoli and chicken pasta.

When he wasn’t eating, he was hanging out with his player host Myles Farmer.

β€œMy player host was Myles Farmer,” Monds said. β€œWe got along great and he was a great dude to be around. He showed me good hospitality showing me around the weight room and stuff like that. I was able to talk to him about what it’s like to be at Nebraska from a players perspective.”

During his official visit Monds got a really unique opportunity. Since his uncle played at Nebraska the Huskers grabbed his portrait for the recruit to take pictures with. That made an impression on Monds.

β€œIt was definitely a great feeling to take a picture with my uncle’s photo on my official visit,” Monds said. “Not many people get the opportunity for someone in their family to trail-blaze football in their family. If I was to go there I’d see that picture every day and it would remind me that I have to be great.”

Right now, Monds wants to make a college announcement in early July. He’s looking for a school where he can come in and play to make an impact early. There is no doubt there Huskers made a move with him this weekend.

β€œNebraska is definitely at the top of my recruitment right now with Indiana and a couple of other schools,” Monds said. “They are definitely at the top.”
