Recruit Joseph Lewis has been on Nebraska’s radar for quite some time. The 6’3″, 185-pound wide receiver prospect out of Hawkins High School in Los Angeles, California is rated highly too. According to Hail Varsity’s composite ranking, he’s listed as a 4-star with a 98.2 overall score.
Lewis has been blogging for USA Today throughout his senior season, which should be of special interest to Husker fans. Whether it was about his official visit to Nebraska or something else, the Huskers have come up quite a few times in his posts. In his recent blog, he handed out a couple of awards for his in-home visits. Out of the three categories discusses, Lewis awarded the Huskers two.
Per USA Today:
And the award for Best Presentation goes to… “Nebraska. It was just a really good atmosphere with them. It was me, my mom, my little brother and the coaches. We ate, we talked about stuff other than football, we watched TV and we eventually talked about football. No pressure. It was really cool. I liked everything they had to say.”
And the award Biggest Appetite goes to… “Nebraska. They had a lot of plates of pizza, chips and dip and they had a lot of bottles of water. Coach (Keith) Williams was having a good time with all the food!”
Lewis awarded USC with the best overall experience, but that shouldn’t worry Husker fans too much. Per Lewis, he liked everything Nebraska had to say which is a positive sign. Plus, the Huskers clearly felt comfortable dining with Lewis (and brought the appetites to match).
Nebraska heads into the dead period (which lasts until Jan. 11, 2017) after taking full advantage of the last couple of weeks to visit and meet with recruits. One of those visits was to Lewis in early December, which clearly proved successful based on his awards.
