Matt Rhule’s coaching staff is on fire, cementing a fourth commitment in two days after hosting his first official visits at Nebraska.
Kai Wallin, an edge from American River Community College, committed to Nebraska on Monday, announcing his decision through his social media. The Sacramento native tallied 33.0 tackles, 7.5 for loss and 5 sacks in his only season at American River CC this fall.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound 3-star junior college prospect gained attention on the west coast with offers from Oregon State, Arizona State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah and Washington State. He also held offers from Kansas and Indiana, among others. He previously visited Oregon State and Kansas, and was scheduled to take an upcoming visit to Indiana but canceled with his commitment announcement.
Wallin gained an offer from Nebraska back in October. The new coaching staff took over and made contact. Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton hit it off with Wallin and the new commitment found himself comfortable in new defensive coordinator Tony White’s system.
He plans to enroll at Nebraska next month.
Wallin becomes the fourteenth commitment in Nebraska’s 2023 recruiting class. Nebraska ranks No. 65 in the national composite rankings, No. 12 in the Big Ten, for its 2023 class. He joins Dylan Rogers of Cy Woods in Texas and Elkhorn South’s Maverick Noonan as edge rushers in this year’s class.
