Off-campus, in-house recruiting opened on Friday, December 2, and Matt Rhule’s makeshift coaching staff hit the ground. He, running backs coach EJ Barthel, secondary coach Evan Cooper, defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, special teams coordinator Ed Foley and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield all went out to bolster Nebraska’s recruiting classes in their first days on the job.

Here’s how it’s all unfolding:

Friday, December 2

7:46 a.m.: Satterfield and Foley are on their way to visit Omaha Westside and numerous prospects. Westside senior Jaylen Lloyd was the second recruit to receive an offer from Rhule. He’s one they’ll visit with alongside juniors Anthony and Teddy Rezac, Caleb Benning and sophomore linebacker Christian Jones.

7:54 a.m.: News hits that Foley, later in the morning, will visit Bellevue West. A trio of juniors, quarterback Daniel Kaelin and receivers Dae’vonn Hall and Isaiah McMorris, are all expected to meet with him.

7:56 a.m.: Mike Sautter of reports Satterfield is going to Gretna to meet with preferred walk-on commit Korver Demma and lineman prospect Mason Goldman. Sautter reports they extended an invitation to quarterback Zane Flores, but Flores reiterated his commitment to Oklahoma State.

8:29 a.m.: Knighton, the former NFL lineman, is due in Elkhorn South to meet with recruits, including 2023 edge commit Maverick Noonan.

8:39 a.m.: Nebraska’s assistant director of player personnel, Keith Williams, visits Creighton Prep and 2023 line commit Sam Sledge.

8:44 a.m.: Foley swings over to Omaha North to meet with recruits. Standout sophomore lineman Tyson Terry already received an offer from Nebraska.

10:08 a.m.: Rhule tweets during his visit to Lincoln High. Among the numerous Links he could visit with is 3-star senior receiver Beni Ngoyi, who is currently committed to Iowa State.

12:12 p.m.: Coaches at Omaha Central and Lincoln Southwest said they had not heard from Nebraska’s new coaching staff yet.

12:45 p.m.: Ainsworth head coach Jessi Owen confirms to Hail Varsity that the shorthanded coaching staff will not be in attendance today. The staff is still recruiting Ainsworth 4-star standout Carter Nelson, who is schedule to attend Nebraska’s Junior Day on Sunday.

12:45 p.m.: Rhule visited recruits and staff at Lincoln East. Spartans 4-star standout Malachi Coleman expected visits from Miami and Oklahoma State today. Oklahoma State did not make his finalist list and he did not even bring a Miami hat to the table during his announcement after the Hurricanes canceled his game-day visit in October.

2:15 p.m.: Rhule visited Coleman in his home. Nebraska’s top in-state recruit decommited from Nebraska on Thursday morning in light of the coaching changes but reserved time for the new head coach. Coleman said Nebraska was still in the mix following his decommitment.

3:00 p.m.: Nebraska coaches were scheduled to arrive at Lincoln Southeast. The Knights have a few interesting recruits, including 2023 commit Gunnar Gottula and promising sophomore Pierre Allen Jr.

7:56 p.m.: Gottula tweeted a photo of the in-home visit from Rhule and Foley.
