Few programs across the cross possess as much recruiting momentum as Nebraska right now. After 15 commitments pledged to Nebraska in June, the calendar turned and the Huskers added another on July 1.
Jacory Barney Jr., a composite 3-star receiver out of Miami Palmetto, Florida, denied his hometown Hurricanes and committed to Nebraska on Saturday. Barney also considered Texas A&M among his three finalists.

Nebraska’s previous staff offered Barney when he stole the show at the AAU Junior Olympics and 7-on-7 camps. The new staff renewed his offer back in April. Barney took official visits to Nebraska, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Illinois and Miami in June. Nebraska already added Dwight Bootle II from Miami Palmetto in the last recruiting class and Willis McGahee IV is a committed member of the 2024 class.
Barney made 37 catches for 559 yards and four touchdowns last season. He also took snaps at quarterback and running back.
Nebraska is now up to 23 members in its 2024 recruiting class. Barney is the second Floridian in the class with McGahee. He joins Dae’vonn Hall, Isaiah McMorris and Quinn Clark as designated wide receivers in the class. That doesn’t include Roger Gradney, Evan Taylor and Donovan Jones, who are athletes projected to play defense at Nebraska but have taken snaps at receiver.
