Nebraska’s 2023 signing list just grew again with an additional preferred walk-on lineman.
David Borchers, a 2023 lineman from North Scott High in Eldridge, Iowa, committed to the Huskers on Monday. The previous coaching staff offered Borchers in 2021 and the lineman visited Lincoln numerous times. Hasn’t visited since the coaching change but announced his intentions to walk on at Nebraska anyway.

He is 6-foot-3, 270 pounds and largely played nose tackle and guard in high school. His commitment post on Twitter tags offensive line coach Donovan Raiola in addition to head coach Matt Rhule and director of player personnel Omar Hales.
Iowa Central Community College announced Borchers’ commitment there in February. Instead, the senior will graduate high school later this month and immediately join the Huskers for summer workouts. He’s the second announced preferred walk-on of the day, following Omaha Skutt graduate Caden Becker’s commitment to transfer back home from Wyoming. Borchers is the second preferred walk-on lineman of Nebraska’s 2023 recruiting class alongside Oakland-Craig standout Grant Seagren.
Borchers runs a 5.38 40, a 4.96 shuttle, benches 315 and squats 450, according to his Hudl page.
