I caught up with Lee to get his thoughts on the atmosphere in Lincoln, his relationship with the staff and his timeline for making a decision.
Here is the full Q&A from our interview.
What were your overall thoughts on the trip?
"So I’ve been to Nebraska before, back for the Spring Game, so this is my first time coming back to a real game and the atmosphere I felt like was amazing. With Nebraska not doing so well this year, the fan support for the team is just unreal. I personally thought that was some of the best fans in college football.
"The trip was nice. The coaches were really welcoming and it was just an overall great experience."
Who came with you?
"My mom, dad and sister."
What were their initial thoughts about the trip?
"My dad loved it. He likes it a lot. They [Nebraska’s staff] offered me back when they were at UCF, I have been talking to the coaches for a long time, I’ve known this staff for a super long time. They offered me that freshman year actually. So I’ve just been staying in contact with them, they know my family really well. My mom graduated from UCF with Coach Beckton so they’re really good friends. My mom and dad, they like it a lot. They like the vibe and the fact the coaches are welcoming. My sister said there was a lot of people there so she liked it too."
Besides the fan support, what would you say were some of the things that stuck out to you about the trip?
"The interaction part. So we’re sitting in the stands and there are people coming up and saying, ‘Hey, how are you,’ and just talking to us about Nebraska. I’d say not only the coaches but the people in Nebraska are really welcoming to new recruits and people not from the area.
"The facilities are amazing. They took me around all the facilities and practice fields and the weight room and everything, so the facilities are above par. They’re really nice."
Did you get to see the postgame celebration in the locker room at all?
"Yes, I did go in the locker room after the game."
What’d you think of that?
"It was awesome. They were super excited, super pumped. Everyone had a positive attitude, it was real nice to see."
This staff is really trying to recruit Georgia more, what do you think about that and did you get a chance to talk to any of the Georgia kids?
"The only guy I talked to a lot was Dicaprio [Bootle], he’s a corner also. I feel like them trying to get Georgia players is awesome. Georgia has a lot of good athletes and I think they could really push the program in the right direction."
What other schools are you looking at right now? Do you have a timeline for when you’re thinking about making a decision?
"Other schools I’ve been talking to heavily would be Virginia, Arizona, Arizona State and then Nebraska, obviously. My timeline, I’m going to put out a top five on Thanksgiving and then I’ll put out my top three on Christmas and I’ll commit on Jan. 18."
Where would you say at this point Nebraska stands in your recruitment?
"They’re definitely top-two right now."
