Nebraska legacy Keelan Smith — a 2024 3-star athlete from Liberty, Missouri — has committed to the Huskers.
Smith shared his announcement via Twitter and a YouTube video. In the video, Smith sits down to write a letter that thanks those that have helped him get to where he is today. At the end of the video, he announces his decision to commit to Nebraska. That includes a pair of Nebraska gloves that he shows off while making the announcement.
1000% committed!

Smith is the son of Husker legend Neil Smith, who was a defensive tackle at Nebraska from 1984-1987. Keelan — who has made a name for himself at Liberty (Missouri) North High School and in the Kansas City area — could play on either offense of defense in college. At 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, Keelan currently plays wide receiver for Liberty North. He’s listed as a tight end by some recruiting services, and could also be a defensive edge player in college.
He participated in one of Nebraska’s Friday Night Lights camps in 2022, and later received an offer in October from then-interim head coach Mickey Joseph. As a junior for Liberty North, Keelan had 50 catches for 850 yards and 11 touchdowns, helping his team to a 12-1 record.
Keelan is the sixth commitment of Nebraska’s 2024 class.
