Things are heating up between Nebraska and Highland Community College defensive tackle Jahkeem Green.
Hail Varsity has been able to confirm through multiple sources that Green will be on campus for this weekend’s Red-White Spring Game as an official visitor. Green was recently on campus the weekend of March 29 for Junior Day alongside teammate Brian George.
What’s unique about Green is that he is a 2019 recruit. He is out of junior college eligibility so should he commit to Nebraska and fulfill his academic requirements, he would be able to join the team this summer. That would put him in the mix for playing time this fall on the defensive line.
Junior college recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Ryan Held hinted at the idea that the staff may look to use official visits for players that could join the team for the 2019 season earlier in April.
“Oh, it’s nice having those [official visits] in the bag,” Held said at the time. “We have a few spots left we can use even yet for this year. Last year, I think we had one left. Coming in we were limited. We had to hit on about an 80 percent success rate. That puts you in a bind. You can’t really take chances on guys. It’s nice having a few we can use for this year or if we decide to use some for the 2020 class, it’s nice.”
Defensive line recruiting is really heating up for Nebraska. Last weekend, the Huskers used their first official visit of the spring on 4-star defensive tackle Nash Hutmacher. This weekend they will host priority target Jamar Sekona (unofficially) and now Green for an official visit..
