During the contact period, new prospects are bound to pop up. Back on Oct. 12 in Big Red Recon, I mentioned a prospect named Jimmy Fritzsche from Greenville (South Carolina) High School as someone to stash away in the back of your mind that the staff was monitoring.
Since that time, Fritzsche, who stands at 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, has picked up a scholarship offer from the Huskers. He has also seen his rating rise to be a consensus 3-star recruit. On Wednesday night, he received a visit from coach Scott Frost and offensive line coach Greg Austin. I reached out to Fritzsche to get his thoughts on how the meeting with Frost and Austin went.
“It was awesome,” he said. “Great coaches and even better people. My family and I cannot wait to get up to Lincoln.”
The Greenville standout said that he will be visiting Lincoln the weekend of Dec. 15, which is the last weekend before the early signing period begins on Dec. 19. He has not played football very long and has played a lot of tight end in high school but Nebraska definitely likes him at offensive tackle and thinks he has a lot of potential.
As for a visit schedule, Fritzsche said he will be busy through December.
“Syracuse this weekend, then UConn, trying to fit in Cincinnati and Appalachian State if I can,” Fritzsche said. “Nebraska owns most of my interest right now though.”
He does plan to commit in December and possibly sign in December as well if he can get all his visits in.
